Today the mercy team started getting us prepared for Easter.
We started off with some singing then we were told about the story of the disciples preparing for the passover meal. Just as the disciples went out and found a man who led them to the upper room, we also transformed our front room into the upper room. Some kids laid out the paper table cloth, others put out plates, cups, flat bread and juice to represent wine. Just looking at it all laid out built up our excitement.
We also learnt how Jesus served others by becoming a servant himself and washing the disciples feet. We had to imagine if the President of Guinea came to our house and started cleaning we would be very surprised and this is just like what Jesus did, He wanted to serve and He did this so we can learn from it and serve others. When we all looked at our feet, they were VERY dirty and smelly and so we all served each other by washing each others feet then rubbing some really nice smelling lotion. Some people had very tickly feet, others just sat back and relaxed.
The team then told us about the sort of food that is eaten at a passover meal and what they represent and we got to make our own passover plate.
We learnt a lot and look forward to hearing more about what happened during Easter.
We are also missing our Dutch friends that left recently, they did so much for us and we even got to go to their Dental site and they looked at our teeth and made them better.
Unfortunately we were unable to say goodbye to them because there was trouble in the area and people couldn't get to us, but they have left their hearts here. Today we were given the bibles that they so kindly bought for us. This is such a special gift. Some of us just sat their hugging them,
others started flipping through the pages
Thank you so much...it means a lot!
